Value of Common Sense Essay Example for Free

Estimation of Common Sense Essay Presence of mind, a unimportant adjustment on ones perspective and acting. It is depicted as the information and judgment that a great many people as of now have or ought to have. Numerous individuals sum up specific goes about as an inconsideration for sound judgment. In my brief time of presence, I can unquestionably say that the act of this idea must be seen as anything other than normal, increasingly like uncommon or intermittent. Good judgment has no type of significant worth that would permit it to add to your capabilities or even towards your web based dating profile. One thing is sure, it has a drawn out impact on your personal satisfaction and the wellbeing of everyone around you. The absence of sound judgment ought to be viewed as a malady which I even experience the ill effects of on occasion. One of the side effects I for the most part experience is agonizing torment. Let’s simply state I was debilitated, this past occasions. I went ice skating with loved ones and it wasn’t my first time. When we had our skates on, we meandered like a gathering of penguins until we arrived at the ice. So we skated around and around which appeared to be a nonstop, whole cycle until I chose to accomplish something surprising. I glared down at my boot and saw that a tie had come free. I should specify that I was all the while moving and quite quick as well. hung over and attempted to cut it set up, a crucial else would seek after and I before long discovered why. As I had secured the lash, I felt my legs wobble wildly. Before I knew it, I was swimming on ice. What I gained from that experience is that you ought to never get an individual as an endeavor to pull yourself up from the ice. it will just turn out to be more regrettable. In the event that u disdain humiliation and sentiments of disappointment, the manner in which I do. At that point you ought to have the option to recognize the estimation of sound judgment as delineated in this story. Not all situations measure presence of mind with a similar measure of significance. The result contrasts and in the following story, it has a considerable amount of weight and outcomes. I was with my uncle at a harbor, where we went to purchase fish. We met this one person who had a little slow down and was selling new fish, he had quite recently gotten. We purchased a couple and believed that we ought to conversate to breathe easy. The angler enlightened us regarding himself and his activity out on ocean. I saw that he had a significant huge number of fish at a bargain. I at that point asked him to what extent it took him to get them. He answered, ’oh, not very long, only a couple hours†. While in astonishment, my uncle said,’ why don’t you remain out longer, that way you can get more fish? The angler clarified that what he had gotten was adequate enough to help his family since he devoted his reality to them. He said that he invested the remainder of his energy with his significant other, kids and companions. My uncle reflected before saying, â€Å"here’s what you ought to do, remain out longer with the goal that you can get more fish. At that point you can sell the additional fish and utilize that cash towards purchasing a greater pontoon. From that point, you would three, even four pontoons until you have a little armada. Utilize a few laborers and offer to bigger organizations. The angler was shocked and murmured out, â€Å"what about my family? I hopped in and said that they would have a superior life, loaded up with circumstance and practical dreams. We left peacefully, leaving the man to consider profoundly into the separation. In this story, the riches in ones life, satisfaction of a family and self-achievement lay on sound judgment. Instruction achieves development and modernity, yet doesn't authorize your capacity to show good judgment. It is viewed as a blessing from birth which achieves effortlessness and straightforwardness instead of superfluous inconvenience and distress. so simply recollect, in the event that you accomplish something inept, you presumably didn’t utilize your sound judgment.

Performance Management Essay Example for Free

Execution Management Essay â€Å"Talent now inclines toward an association that is adaptable, has solid qualities and a vigorous exhibition ethic (Bhal, 2002).† In any association regardless of the size execution the board is a basic component concerning the human component that is the establishment of the association. So as to successfully put, oversee, and create staff an exhibition the board plan is a fundamental piece of the improvement procedure. As per the past proposals for the Bollman Hotel’s arranged venture into India, the accompanying data will be with respect to the arrangement, work investigation, estimation, theory, and input of a suggested presentation the executives plan. Arrangement As indicated by Bhal, a significant number of the associations in the India advertise have not concentrated on the human asset part of the business module (Bhal, 2002, p. 141). This has left a hard undertaking to defeat for those organizations hoping to venture into the territory. India has seen the requirement for a change in the Human Resource division, as far as their treatment and convictions in the administration of their faculty. As per Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, and Von der Embse there are four significant territories that are supposed to be under remodel (Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, Von der Embse, 2000, p. 61). The four territories are recorded as: first, â€Å"high execution work frameworks have been demonstrated to be significant to continuing worldwide competiveness and they depend upon objective, sufficient PA processes†, second â€Å"the efficiency of work societies in Indian associations is endangered by worker PA rehearses that seem one-sided, specially appointed and non-incorporated into a comprehensively serious HRM framework, third â€Å"Indian chiefs have been condemned for not including representatives in the PA process†, and ultimately â€Å" administrative qualities that are national culture-based, authoritative culture-based and firm proprietorship based can upgrade or hinder individual and hierarchical execution satisfaction† (Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, Von der Embse, 2000, p. 61). These are the confusions and snags of that must be defeated for any association wandering into India. Hierarchical Performance Philosophy Organization reasoning must coordinate the Indian culture as the extension of the Bollman Hotel extends. As indicated by Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, and Von der Embse, examines have demonstrated a low desire for Indian laborers as it identifies with strengthening, effiecency, and improvement (Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, Von der Embse, 2000, p. 65). This ought to be a solid point of convergence as Bollman investigates the venture into this nation. By guaranteeing that the entirety of the workers feel they are esteemed and entrisical to the activities and accomplishment of the association it will help the general spirit of the association. As depicted by Cascio the treatment and theory of that workers credit to an association is called representative relations (Cascio, 2010, p. 548). These are fundamental contemplations in the improvement of the presentation plan for the extension of the Bollman Hotel. Employment Analysis In the HRM field work investigation is characterized by Cascio as â€Å"the procedure of acquiring and data about jobs† (Cascio W. , 2010, p. 163). So as to appropriately characterize an aptitude or employment required in the new market you should initially take a gander at the qualities and ranges of abilities wanted for each activity work. Representatives are the establishment of the association and to create and set up a decent worker brand is a fundamental capacity of any association. This errand won't be an overwhelming undertaking for the effectively common Bollman Hotel. Be that as it may, there will be a requirement for adjusting and adjusting the consolidating society and socio-financial aspects with the current Bollman brand. Estimation Procedures Cascio depicts a presentation the board plan as a type of compass for the worker and boss (Cascio W. , 2010, p. 330). In building up and evaluating execution there must be built up objectives for every representative and a set up estimation of every objective for that worker. In the occurrence of the Bollman Hotel, set estimations could be built up based uponâ customer protests per 10 clients for instance. Another estimation could be the quantity of return business customers per quarter. Aptitude Gaps and Delivering Performance Feedback By building up a firm anticipation and objectives for every representative and characterized sets of expectations this will assist with guaranteeing a quality exhibition plan. India worker pool is searching for an association that will advance from inside and place an accentuation on the improvement of every representative. The evaluations should be a proper mix into the strategies and execution framework so as to dodge ability holes and execution holes. A solid preparing, instructing, and combination process is fundamental to guaranteeing every representative knows about their desires and get appropriate preparing for each ideal activity work (Bhal, 2002). In the Indian culture by settling on one-sided choices and not giving a reasonable evaluation to every representative with the vital input is a basic error that has tormented the Indian human asset field (Amba-Rao, Petrick, Gupta, Von der Embse, 2000). India has seen a solid acknowledgment of open conversation regarding input from workers during evaluations. This will assist with cultivating a compatibility a common comprehension of desires and objectives recorded for every worker. This additionally offers the chief the chance to build up a type of relationship with the representatives and takes into consideration a let loose progression of data and down the levels of leadership. Nonetheless, by doing this the supervisor need to guarantee that the regard and correspondence is conscious and commonly advantageous (Bhal, 2002). Cascio has recorded some helpful input procedures. The objective of every evaluation input meeting should hope to improve and furnish the worker with important data expected to progress and exceed expectations inside the association (Cascio W. , 2010, p. 341). Examinations are likewise in consistence with the Labor Relation Laws of India and the documentation required to fire a worker if need be. The utilization of examinations or positioning frameworks might be a negative fortification framework as far as input per the India social and financial frameworks set up (Bhal, 2002). This will likewise add to the gap of the social frameworks at present set up. End Basically a formal and nitty gritty execution the executives framework is fundamental to building a solid establishment for Bollman Hotel’s to prosper and flourish. In knowing the main thrust behind the way of life and what issues lay in holding up that could be the potential ruin of the lodging. By having solid correspondence and a decent input framework set up it will guarantee that to break the cliché human asset originations and set up a solid establishment work power for Bollman. Bolsa Financial Red

Bolsa Financial Red INTRODUCTIONMartin: Hi. Today we are in  Madrid, a very Catholic city. Have you ever wondered why God is really connected toMale? Here we have the answer. Jesús from  Madrid, who is operating some of the very well known financial companies here in  Spain. Jesús, who are you and what do you do?Jesús: I am not the person who you think about. I am the CEO of Financial Red and Bolsa.com. When I go abroad, its very strange for people that someone can be called Jesús. But in  Spain, its very typical name, people like that name.Martin: What did you do before you started this company?Jesús: I was a computer engineer. My first job was really working in the internet bubble, just at the beginning of the internet bubble. So I really learnt a lot about the developing portals. And I also really love the market, love financial. I really like to develop invest developing programs, so I really like the financial. With that two kind of things, I start my financial media company in 2007.Martin: In 2007, Okay. And how did you change from being an employee to becoming an entrepreneur?Jesús: The main reason was my partner Gonzalo. He is a person whos been an entrepreneur for 5 years. He cant imagine himself working in a company. So when I met him, I understand the opportunity that we have to create our first company. We think a lot but we make a decision to leave the bank employment and to begin with this project.I am really happy. I think it was a very dangerous decision but when you really like something, after that you can pursue it with passion, I think you can do whatever you want.BUSINESS MODEL OF FINANCIAL RED BOLSA.COMMartin: Tell us a little bit more about how the 3 companies are working together?Jesús: When I define Financial Red, I think its a media that belongs to the talent of the network. We really find bright talented people in writing about finance and we invite them to write for Financial Red. We are really a group of people that write for a company.Martin: So, a blog network?Jesús: Its a blog network. Right now, its now like a blog format. Right now, we write in different kind of spaces, like social network, we are really a portal. But really its the type of people, people on the internet with 2.0 permit, to discover that kind of talent. And thats really the reason of the success of Financial Red.After that, we discover that the media is a very competitive environment and usually in those years, the payment or the outside pays were lower and lower. So with the amount of high traffic, because for one year we were the most visited financial website in  Spain, we decided to try a different business model. Thats why we created Bolsa, as an association network of investors and also another company to try to monetize people with other kind of place.Martin: Okay. And the Financial Red is a blog network. So basically what youre doing is selling some ads and on the other hand having other people writing great content. Are you focusing with th e content on some specific niche, like news or education or a specific technique related to trading, or some events related to trading or is it totally open that everybody can write on any topics?Jesús: Anybody can write about whatever they want. But I think, our main focus is opinion. Because people who write for us, are people who are passionate about what they are writing. They dont have time to write about what is happening in the real time, but they can really make a very good analysis of what is happening. I think this is our main advantage. We are probably a more opinion media. Sometimes media cant do opinion. You have some limitation about that. We are all the time making opinions about everything in financial, opinions on everything and sometimes creating trends of opinions.Martin: For Financial Red and Bolsa, where are the users coming from? From which countries and from which marketing channels, like search engines, social network?Jesús: I think at the beginning of the c ompany, we are really an international company. Were in 20 countries, a lot of them in Spanish language, like in  Mexico  right now the first country,  Spain,  Argentina,  Colombia  and  Peru. At the beginning, I think people find us from Google, from search engines. Right now, in the last 2 years, people come find us from social network like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter. We have moved from search engines to some social networks. Right now we have a very high percentage of traffic that arrives from social networks. Search engines have also huge amount of traffic, but right now I think the search engines, probably sometimes find other things in this kind of environment.Martin: What is the share of search engine traffic from your visits?Jesús: I think 4 years ago really nothing. Right now, I think its about 15 20%. It is really lowering a lot and thats why we really focus on making good things for social network. So I think its becoming important. Sometimes, Twitter is a very financia l social network. We have tickers, as you know hash tags. In the stock market, we have a lot of people who visit us from Twitter. And probably for more usual things like Tips for Saving, Tips for Taxes from Facebook.  For more specific things also from LinkedIn.I think every social network has their preferences. Thats why we like it very much, because we find people in that kind of network and they like us. So we have a team that only focuses on delivering our content in social networks.Martin: With Bolsa you said that its somehow an investor network or trader network. Can you tell us a little bit more what people can really do there?Jesús: Bolsa is really a specialized social network of investors. So, we dont have that is not a media company. You can have a premium profile, so we try to leverage all our content or the best things and can provide it to our users, so they can make the best decision in the market. But also we think its very important to leverage the intelligence of the community, of the crowd. I think that kind of network permits it that they can find investment opportunities from other users. I think when you have such a huge community, you realize that they are very good people in making investment decision, so I think what Bolsa try to do is to leverage the best ones.Because we have some companies that are in the Spanish stock market, they want to share their result, their news. So this is a better way to communicate that kind of things to our community. So I think companies understand that they can have a more direct contact with the investors and they permit us to have more confidence in the company.Martin: The companies also pay to distribute this kind of information to the public market?Jesús: They really pay for having a community in Bolsa.com, to have all different personalities and our help to use that community. Its not really paying for publishing the content, its more to have all the possibilities.Martin: Its one package, and thats i t.Jesús: You have narrowed a community there to have more things to contact with the network.Martin: You said, the funny thing with Bolsa is you can follow other great investors by seeing their results. This matches very well with your third company, with this  algo trading fund, which is performing quite well. Can you tell us a little bit more, how did you come you with the idea of starting this algo trading?Jesús: Yes. First of all I had agreement with eToro because eToro it was a social community that also shares investment for stock. It really merges perfectly with our social network because they had the transaction part.I am computer engineer, as I told you. And the last years of my career, I focused on numerical series to study statistics. That kind of knowledge, I know Serge that is one of the most famous algorithm developers in  Spain. I really like to laugh with him. So we are in a team really working in developing system and trying to invest because it was one of my thin gs that I want to do in the future. So right now, Im very happy with all the people that I have known from Financial Red and Bolsa.com. I also permit to have more ideas of trading. And right now we have developed in 2 years the Sersan System in the company. We have developed 4 systems right now and one of the best systems in  Spain.  We have a near 50% of profit the first year with real money. It was very-very funny to try to be profitable with an automatic system and we achieved it in the first year.MARKET DEVELOPMENTMartin: Lets talk about the market for media companies in general and what trends you see in this. Like for example, what the media companies are doing right now, selling ads for  eyeballs and maybe what kind of shifts you see they are doing and what your view on that would be?Jesús: I see different things. We are in a very competitive environment in the media. Right now, not only media companies, but there are also projects like Facebook which is not really media, the y all are also competing in the search engines. They are competing for the budget for ads.So we are really in a competitive system, so that means that there are huge offers to put ad on the internet. Thats really a problem, because you sometimes see that you are in a sector like sport, for example, there are a huge amount of money in sports bets. But you see that media companies for sports magazines are dying.  First of all, if this environment doesnt change there will be no media, or the sports bets will have to create the media.I think what right now is beginning, there are some media companies that are thinking into becoming a player in the sector in order for the people to survive in the business. One of the businesses would be the sports bet.I think thats what happening right now or the media for equity thats happening, so media companies understand that they are really out of money in this sector. They are writing about that. Its not really a sustainable environment that this kind of media so do not really have a huge opportunities. I think they are moving.I think we are mixing a lot of things probably. And if you see media companies in the next years, we are going to develop more business out of media because even if they do not do much with media kind of revenue, business would be huge for them. So, I think there are going to be a mix between media and business company in the sector. And I think the companies that understand better this combination will probably the next big players. Probably it will appear some big players from media in some sectors.Martin: Okay. So basically the short story would be that the stand alone business model of media company is not sustainable and they have basically 2 choices of how to grow the company. First one would be just to be parts of other companies like Bolsa Media for equity deals or they just set up or integrate with other companies in their value chain. So maybe even seeing more  MA deals  also.Jesús: I think r eally what you think about what is media. You have the clients oftentimes on your website or your news. This is very important. So, even Facebook is very important because there are a lot of people wasting time in Facebook. I think media have to learn how to monetize this because there are people who waste time in their sites. I think probably its the most valuable thing that they can have. So, they to learn how to really monetize this.ADVICE TO ENTREPRENEURS FROM JESÚS PÉREZ In Madrid we interviewed the founder and CEO of Financial Red and Bolsa, Jesús Pérez.Financial Red is a platform for bloggers writing about financial sector. What advice can you give a first time entrepreneur when he wants to start a company?Jesús: First of all, I say that they have to have a passion in what they do because it helps them to be competitive. You have to love what you are doing, you will probably be good at that. After that, they need to think a lot about the business model. I think, they can sometimes create things bigger and you can delay the decision of the business model. But from what I have learnt about all this process, is that sometimes if you think a little bit about the business and you find really a good business model, it can really help your company and you can be more efficient and grow faster. So the business model at the beginning is something that sometimes you discover when you have worked in your company for 2 or 3 years. I think in internet, its not too difficult to be international. I think, sometimes you are in a country that is not that huge as the  United States. Essay on The Battle of Britain in 1940 - 1245 Words

The Battle of Britain in 1940 In the summer of 1940, the German Luftwaffe attempted to win air superiority over southern Britain and the English Channel by destroying the Royal Air Force and the British aircraft industry. This attempt came to be known as the Battle of Britain, and victory over the RAF was seen by the Germans as absolutely essential if they were eventually to mount an invasion of the British Isles. The Germans had overrun Belgium, the Netherlands and northern France in May 1940, using the Blitzkrieg (Lightning War) technique that relied, among other things, on close coordination between ground troops and the air force. Although the Luftwaffe proved very competent in this†¦show more content†¦In addition even if Hitler had achieved his aim of destroying the RAF, Germany might still have failed to establish a foothold after any invasion, because the British Royal Navy was enormously strong, and very capable of repulsing German troop ships. Suppression of the British air force would have been the first difficult step to a German victory, but it was not the only factor, and the British would have found they had plenty more tricks up their sleeve. There was nothing to stop them from withdrawing their aircraft northwards, out of range of the German fighters, if they started to lose the air battle, keeping the aircraft in reserve to counter an attempted German invasion. The combatants There were plenty of indications that the Luftwaffe might face real problems in accomplishing their initial step towards the conquest of Britain. The first came during the evacuation of Allied troops from the Dunkirk beaches at the end of May. The Luftwaffes principal modern fighter, the Messerschmitt Bf109E (Me-109), had limited range and was operating from bases some way from Dunkirk, making the German bombers very vulnerable to the most modern RAF fighters. This was a foretaste of the problems that they would soon face over Britain itself, and during the operation they lost 240Show MoreRelatedChurchill and the Battle of Brittain839 Words   |  3 Pages18, 1940, Prime Minister Winston Churchill was speaking to the British House of Commons when he said â€Å"The Battle of France is over. Citizen Bank Case Free Essays

The merger of U. S. Citizen Bank and Louisiana Purchase Bank (LPB) in 1998 resulted in a formation of a financial powerhouse possessing core competencies in commercial lending and innovation. We will write a custom essay sample on Citizen Bank Case or any similar topic only for you Order Now Upon recognizing the much needed annuity-driven market potential existing within the U. S. college population, the LPB pioneered the student credit card program in 1989. Indeed, the student credit card program proved to be more profitable with net income margin around 6 percent compared to that of 4 percent for non-student product offerings. In fact, LPB was collecting revenue on 60 percent of its accounts. The sheer magnitude of credit usage among college students caught public’s attention. Well respected college professors claimed direct correlation between credit institutions’ success and college students’ irresponsible financial behavior leading to debt and higher drop-out rates. Due to this increased public awareness, The U. S.  General Accounting Office (GAO) initiated an investigative report to further analyze the magnitude of student credit card usage and its consequences on students’ academic, financial, and personal well-being. The GAO asked LPB’s head of Student Card Services division, Michelle Jeffries, to participate in a survey soliciting data pertinent to their college student accounts as well as information regarding LPB’s marketing approach to this demographic. Data submitted would be compared to that of other (unnamed) financial institutions and published (in aggregate) without identifying individual responders. In addition, Michelle Jeffries was notified that a popular investigative television series, ’60 Minutes’ will be featuring a story on student credit cards and plans to portray credit card issuers in a negative light similar to that of tobacco companies. I believe Michelle is in the best position to be the key decision maker due to the fact that she has the most insight into divisional operations, objectives, and values. She is the leader of the student credit card services division and should be the one to decide and communicate next steps – after having gathered input from other constituents – including the President, Risk Manager and other employees. Michelle needs to consider the interests of U. S. Citizen Bank, its employees and shareholders, all calling for a profitable and prospering organization. In addition, she needs to consider the rights of general public and media to know what U. S.  Citizen Bank’s ultimate objectives are, including its corporate values and goals. Does U. S. Citizen Bank need to have a moral obligation to look after the best interests of customers it serves? If so, what is in college students’ best interest when it comes to credit cards? Is it ethical to extend credit to students? Finally, Michelle needs to think about her own virtues and character in addition to those of the organization. What virtues does the company value the most? Do those align with her personal virtues? The most important ethical issue at hand is the implied allegation that success of U. S Citizen Bank’s Student Card Services division was at the expense of college students’ financial well-being. That begs the question of moral obligation and the ethics of extending credit to college students. Another important ethical issue is U. S. Citizen Bank’s response to the public in regards to the GAO survey as well as 60 Minutes. The bank is being asked to disclose confidential customer information as well as their business and marketing plans. Lastly, Michelle needs to marry her own personal values to those of the organization which she leads. She has a solid track record of being honest, fair and ethical and she needs to lead the organization keeping those core values in mind. Lastly, she needs to assure those shared values are actually being practiced. Michelle is presented with the following possible options. She could disregard GAO’s request for information on grounds of protecting customer privacy as well as corporate business and marketing plans in terms of promotional and marketing strategies. She could also choose not to publicly address 60 Minutes to avoid the possibility of self-imposed negative attention on U. S. Citizen Bank in relation to the series. Another viable option would be to submit the requested information to the GAO as well as publicly address the 60 Minutes series while firmly defending company’s current strategy without identifying any holes or areas for improvement. The third option would be to respond to the GAO’s request as well as release a public statement in response to the 60 Minutes series clearly identifying U.  S. Citizen Bank’s corporate values, objectives and responsibilities to all of its stakeholders. In both responses, Michelle could acknowledge things the corporation believes they’ve done right as well as things they could and plan to improve on in response to helping college students become more financially responsible when it comes to credit card debt. Michelle should respond to the GAO survey by submitting requested account data and marketing information while emphasizing company’s strong commitment to customer privacy and onfidentiality of information submitted. She should address the 60 Minutes series by clearly identifying and defending her organization’s values and commitment to its customers. She should highlight company’s accomplishments and strides in the area of student credit card education programs. Furthermore, she should identify areas of improvement with well-defined action plans that will elevate the organization to the next level vs. merely pointing out weaknesses to the competitors. The overall theme should re-iterate company’s commitment to all of its stakeholders, acknowledging what they’ve done to support that commitment followed by an action plan to further evolve and improve their student credit card education programs. They should raise the bar for all credit card issuers on educating college students on responsible use of credit cards. More importantly, they should publicly acknowledge their ethical responsibility to provide customers with information necessary to make sound financial decisions. Michelle also needs to ensure external communication aligns with the internal translation in order to successfully execute publicly announced action plan. Internal stakeholders need to be assured that external message is honest and action-driven and not just a media ‘spin’ to protect company’s interests. An internal communication to employees and shareholders should clearly translate the external message into sustainable long-term profitability and well-being of the company. Considering the interests of all parties involved, the suggested approach is clearly the right one. By publicly acknowledging and recognizing an increased concern surrounding college students’ credit card debt, they will gain public’s sympathy and respect. By choosing to do something about it via a well defined action plan, they will gain public’s trust. By gaining public’s trust, they will gain a more loyal and increased customer base which will contribute to company’s long-term profitability. In addition, this approach will clearly communicate company’s values and traits of responsible corporate citizenship which will set an example for other companies in their industry, including their competitors. One might argue the organization should really re-evaluate the business they are in as it may not be morally responsible to extend credit cards to students. I would argue that the morality question certainly does come into play and should definitely be considered when deciding on tactics used to promote and market credit cards to students. However, the actual extension of credit to students, by its nature, is not unethical. In fact, when utilized properly, it serves students’ interests by allowing them to build credit history while teaching financial responsibility and spending within means. In conclusion, while credit lending geared towards college students is not considered unethical business to be in, marketing techniques utilized to promote such products and service may certainly cross ethical boundaries. Women in American Society Essay Example

Women in American Society Essay Example Women in American Society Essay Women in American Society Essay As opposed to sex, gender is a socially constructed concept where women and men, male and females are treated in a society. Gender roles are the expectations are those norms and behaviors that a society expects men and women in a certain culture to look like, and the tasks and roles performed by them. In America there have been great changes in the role and place of women in the society and the gender gaps appear to be getting thinner. Women are rising and taking up those positions that were traditionally viewed as masculine like in politics and leadership forums.   In the past women were restricted in a number of ways only being allowed to be obedient housewives, who cooked and cleaned in the houses. Today such roles are played by both genders and women are more liberal in their day to day activities. There is evidence of the drastic changes that have taken pace in the perception of women in the society. However this has had both positive and negative impacts on women. With the fre edom to pursue careers, raising of children has been grossly neglected and hence an upsurge in moral decadence and an emergence of a generation without real touch of motherhood. At the same time divorce rates have increased more than ever and this hurts women psychologically. In today’s contemporary society women have most opportunities than ever before. These have opened doors for many who otherwise would have been locked out and suffered socio-economically. These have had both positive and negative impacts on the women at large. With the burden shared equally among the men and women, equal rights and responsibilities, there has been pressure on women to compete with male folks in job, need for the women to give critical answers to world greatest problems and many end up spending a good portion of their lives in school pursing education to meet their own needs. The changes in gender perception have brought more good than harm in the American society and therefore sustainable r esults such as economic growth and socio-cultural development has been experienced. However vices such as smoking tobacco and marijuana have seen the number of deaths in women related to such increase over time.ReferencesAlica H. Periodic Table With Common Ionic Charges

Periodic Table With Common Ionic Charges The most-requested printable periodic table has been one for element charges, to predict compounds and chemical reactions. Now, you can use periodic table trends to predict the most common element charges. Group I (alkali metals) carry a 1 charge, Group II (alkaline earths) carry a 2, Group VII (halogens) carry -1, and Group VIII (noble gases) carry a 0 charge. Metal ions may have other charges or oxidation states. For example, copper usually has a 1 or 2 valence, while iron typically has a 2 or 3 oxidation state. The rare earths often carry many different ionic charges. One of the reasons you dont normally see a table with charges is because the organization of the table offers a clue to common charges, plus elements can have just about any charge given enough energy and the right conditions. Even so, heres a table of element charges for readers seeking the most common ionic charges of element atoms. Just keep in mind elements may carry other charges. For example, hydrogen can carry -1 in addition to 1. The octet rule doesnt always apply to ionic charges. In some cases, the charge can exceed 8 or -8! Ive got a  huge collection of printable periodic tables, which include all 118 elements. If you dont find what you need, just let me know and Ill have it made for you!

APA Writing Format Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

APA Writing Format - Essay Example All text in the title page is written in the â€Å"Capitalize Each Word† format. Abstract The â€Å"Abstract† section in the APA format is optional. When included, it provides a quick insight into the content of the paper. The first word of the Abstract is kept flush with the left hand side and there is no indent unlike the paragraphs in the rest of the paper. Word limit for the Abstract ranges from 150 to 250 words. Abstract is always written on the second page since the first page is the Title Page. Page numbers start displaying from the second page onwards. Title The title should be concise and appropriately signify the content of the paper. Words for the title must be chosen with utmost care since it is the fundamental phrase that attracts the audiences to read the paper. Introductory Paragraph The introductory paragraph, as the name indicates, introduces the readers to the subject of the paper and the particular aspect in the vast field that is explored in the pape r. The introductory paragraph should contain detailed information about the subject with an intent to inform a reader who is new to the subject. The introductory paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper that is indented, and so are all paragraphs that follow. The introductory paragraph ends with a thesis statement. Usually, past tense is used in the text included in the introductory paragraph. Thesis Statement The thesis statement is a concise summary just a sentence long that plays the role of a roadmap and highlights all main points in the same sequence as they are discussed in the body of the paper. The thesis statement essentially reflects what the author wants the readers to learn by reading the paper. The thesis statement should present a debatable point. It should constitute such words and ideas that one can possibly disagree with. The thesis statement is ideally just one sentence long. Occasionally, it may extend to two sentences but no more than that otherwise it becom es difficult for the readers to tell it from the rest of the sentences in the introductory paragraph. Body The body of the paper is where the author can express every point of the thesis statement in the same sequence in detail. The number of paragraphs included in the body of the paper varies from one paper to another depending upon how complex the paper is and how long it is required to convey the points effectively. Good writing requires logical flow of ideas and smooth transition from one idea to another, without abrupt changes. This requires proper mind-mapping before the writing can be commenced. In APA writing format, headings assist the readers in tracking the argument’s development. No heading is provided in the introduction since the first paragraph is already taken as an introduction. Nevertheless, the title of the paper shows on the very first line of the third page. Headings in the APA format are not labeled with numbers or letters. There are five levels of headi ngs that are used as needed in the body of the paper. In-text citations are incorporated in the body of the paper. There are different ways to use the in-text citations when they are used before the quote or paraphrase than when they are used after the quote or the paraphrased sentence. When the in-text citat

Investigate Curriculum Mapping Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Investigate Curriculum Mapping - Essay Example Figure 1: Curriculum Mapping's Directionality Image courtesy of the University of Connecticut When the mapping is done, the outcomes and philosophies of the institution (e.g. whether the school has a science focus, a vocational focus, a Deweyan learned experience focus) and the learning outcomes of the academic program (e.g. the major or the grade year or whether it's elective or main track) determine the nature of the course. The course itself is then mapped into units and individual lessons. Like any good architect, curriculum mappers start with the blueprint at the highest level then build from the lowest level, from the foundation up, brick by brick. Students may be told about the objectives and design approach, but they will experience it lesson by lesson up until the final outcomes of the institution (graduation) are achieved. Hale and Dunlap (2010, p. 2) liken it to looking at a city from a high vantage point first, getting a broad sense of its flow and design, then going down to the ground level and interacting with the individual citizens. This is all fairly intuitive thus far, but the University of Connecticut (2011) also argues for program objective-to-individual program matrices. If the institution values diversity, for example, that claim is fairly hollow unless diversity is actually represented in any classes (language classes, multicultural studies, social studies, etc.) Using the matrix design, they'd code all of the institutional goals and match them to each class: In the case of diversity, they'd match the diversity objective to social studies classes. This process is iterative and can occur multiple times: The class can in turn be broken down into objective matrices, with units and lessons mapped to make sure that there is even and full coverage of all primary objectives. The individual social studies classes, knowing that they're supposed to fulfill a diversity requirement, can orient their units and lessons appropriately. Curriculum mapping is not just a design tool: It can also be a data-collection tool as well (Kentucky Department of Education, 2011). It's difficult to collect data that's not systematized. By making systematic the way curricula are designed and taught, it's possible for teachers, instructors and administrators to quantify performance and interest and begin to adjust or improve the relevant and practicality of institutional goals. And when performance results have been achieved, it's possible to quantify why and where the improvement took place. Curriculum mapping also allows all relevant stakeholders to participate (Rubicon, 2010; Dunlap and Hale, 2010). Since the curriculum map allows the entire curriculum to be coordinated and designed, it allows instructors to make sure their efforts aren't excessively overlapping, allows parents and students to insure they're getting what they deserve and value, etc. Good curriculum mapping is flexible (Rubicon, 2010). It can be changed on the spot as teachers, students and administrators discover problems and holes. But unlike change that occurs in a more conventional way, curriculum mapping can be systematic, with a change or reduction in one classroom being offset by other changes elsewhere. If one class' diversity require

Essay --

Abraham Lincoln’s outlooks on slavery were constructed by the times and places in which he was raised and during his time serving his country. Slavery was an accepted foundation in the United States across Lincoln’s developmental years. Lincoln’s own feelings about African Americans and slavery were constant over the years; however when it came to his political positions and actions regarding slavery, they changed as the national situation changed. Lincoln had always acknowledged that slavery was wrong, but that it was accepted and mandatory for the South’s economy. â€Å"In Bloomington, Illinois, he stated ‘that southern slaveholders were neither better, nor worse than we of the north, and that we of the north were no better than they. And we never ought to lose sight of this fact in discussing the subject.†Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ (Dillon, Amber. "Lincoln's Changing Views on Slavery†) Lincoln first supported the idea that African Americans did not earn the same rights and treatment of the white men. His perspective of this came from his background and family. With Lincoln’s election to congress in 1854 and the start of the Mexican War, it brought the issue of the expansion of slave territory to the nation’s attention. With this, Lincoln created a coherent position on slavery. â€Å"He was opposed to black equality and had no intention of disturbing slavery in slave states. However, he recognized that slavery was wrong and should not be allowed to spread to new states.† (Dillon, Amber. "Lincoln's Changing Views on Slavery†) This obvious alter in Lincoln’s position developed as he gained political maturity. Lincoln’s next big outlook change on slavery came from when he ran for Senate in 1858 against Stephen A. Douglas. With this lively campaign, Lincoln an... ...widow, and his orphan- to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.†Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ ("Second Inaugural Address." Documents America's History) Lincoln expresses how he wants the nation to change the way they have been rationalizing throughout the previous years with the issue of slavery. He doesn’t want anyone to think he holds spite towards them for their previous ways of thinking. Lincoln wanted the Nation to come together as one, instead of two as they have always been. In the previous quote he said just that. Abraham Lincoln wasn’t born â€Å"The Great Emancipator,† though he became â€Å"The Great Emancipator.† Even though Lincoln didn’t particularly have an opinion on slavery in his beginning years, his opinion changed drastically over time. This difference in style was not purely to do with Bushs lack of speaking ability, although he was conscious that he was unable to be another Reagan.
